It will take you one week to make this bag, and to make it you will need: brown and black leather fabric, black threads, scissors, zipper, button or button, beads (the color of the beads can be chosen at will), braid and additional decoration in the form of an artificial bow (to hide a button or button).
Starting work, we prepare the materials and tools needed for the first part of the work: threads, scissors, fabric and fastener.
The brown leather fabric is presented in the form of one large oval figure cut into two parts. These two figures need to be sewn with three pieces of black fabric, one of which is made as the bottom, and the other two - side parts. The width of the lower sides of the side parts should match the width of the bottom part, and their upper sides should gradually narrow. If you sew the bag in this way, it will turn out to be more capacious. But first, we need to sew two half oval brown details with a bottom detail:
The bottom part has an additional layer of fabric, making it denser. This is how three stitched parts look on the other side:
Next, we sew the side parts. For the allowance sections of the upper sides of these parts, we will have to sew a zipper, and the allowance sections can be made from 0.5 cm wide:
Details of the sides we sew with three sides of the future handbag in this way:
We make all the seams on the wrong side of the future handbag. You can make seams with the help of a sewing machine, and if it is not, then you can manually:
At the end of stitching, the craft must be turned out of the wrong side, and then sew on top with a zipper, trimmed off the extra piece of brown semicircular leather fabric and left some fabric as an allowance:
To sew the second side of the zipper, it should be unfastened.
After sewing on the zipper on the “front” side, it seems to us to be normally sewn:
Next, we need to sheathe the upper oval part - the "cover" of the crafts braid. The ends of the trimmed braid we singe with a lighter so that it does not "crumble", after which we pin the braid to the middle of the "lid" and sew:
On the back of the purse should meet two seared ends of the tape:
After that, we decided to sew on first a large button on the front of the bag with a small piece of elastic for fastening:
To sew an elastic band, it must be folded in the shape of a loop and make a hole in the section of the fabric of the purse intended for it, through which the ends of the elastic band must be inserted, then hem them from the top, connecting the seams with the outer part of the elastic band (so that it always points upwards). Next we need to sew up the hole:
This is how our loop looks from the outside:
Next, we decided to remove the large button and sew in its place an artificial decoration in the form of a bow. The bow will have to hide underneath another, small translucent button.
After that, you need to make a handle for the resulting handbag. For this, a cord from an old coupling can be suitable, for example.
We need to sew it at the ends, also making holes in the fabric of the handbag on the sides:
After sewing, these holes will need to be sewn up:
Next, under a bow-shaped decoration, we sew a translucent button of a small size:
Turning over the craft, we decided to hide the two burnt ends of the braid behind a large button:
Next to the hemmed braid we need to attach bead jewelry.
Entering the black thread, we knit it and string the beads on two threads (for strength):
At the end of each row of beads, we string on one of the threads along a large brown one and tie the threads behind:
After that, everything: our hand-made DIY handbag is ready, and you can use it:
So it looks after filling:
A “double clasp” will protect such a handbag from theft, a long handle will allow it to be worn on the shoulder, and a leather surface will protect it from getting wet.
Sincerely, Vorobyov Dinara.
