This home-made device is designed to clean pea pods (separating grains from the husk), and will save time - especially when you need to process a large amount of green peas. You can make such a homemade product yourself from improvised materials.
The basis of the design is two wooden rolls that gently separate ripe fruits from the pod, while maintaining the integrity of each pea. The bed can be made from scraps of lumber or pieces of plywood.
First you need to make the rolls themselves, between which the pods of green peas will be clamped. To do this, it will be necessary to cut off two sticks, and then round them so that they are approximately the same diameter. With the help of a knife or a chisel on the edges we make hooks.
The main stages of work
In two squared bars at the same height, we drill through holes for wooden sticks. After that, we fasten the vertical posts on the sides of the base, which can be cut from boards or plywood.
In the middle of the rolls, using a self-tapping screw or other sharp object, it is necessary to make long notches in order to better capture the pod. Then we lubricate the rolls with wax or paraffin, and then install them in the seats (holes in the bars).
We fasten the handle to the lower roll so that it is more convenient to twist it. And then you can already proceed directly to cleaning the pea pods. The process of manufacturing and assembling this home-made device, see the video on our website.
