DIY LED Mirror

If you want to make your home interior more expressive and “lively”, you don’t have to buy expensive decorative items in the store for this - even with simple materials you can make a truly exclusive thing. For example, a large mirror in a frame with LED backlight.

As a basis, you can use an old wall mirror or with a dressing table. The frame for it is made of ordinary pine boards (however, if desired, you can take other types of wood - this is at your discretion).

The main stages of work

First of all, cut a piece of the right size from the board, from which you need to make a frame for the mirror - for this, first of all, we make a template from a piece of ordinary cardboard, and then we transfer it to a pine board and saw it with an electric saw or a tape saw.

Next, you need to put a mirror on two parts of the frame, set the required distance, and then draw a control line. Using a hand mill, select a quarter. The edges of the frame can also be machined with a mill. Today it is fashionable to treat the wood surface with mineral impregnation, however you can use colorless varnish, stain or even paint on wood.

In the next step, you need to attach the mirror to the frame using liquid nails or other similar compounds. On the side we fix the frame with clamps, and put the load on top - but be careful not to damage the mirror. Then we attach to the frame the rear supporting parts along the entire contour, as well as the transverse wooden gaskets.

Finishing touch

We attach aluminum rails to the vertical posts, to which the LED strip is glued, and cover them with decorative caps. In the racks themselves, we drill holes and pass LEDs through them. The ends of the LED strip are connected to a wire with a switch. Then it remains only to secure the rear panels.
