This compact wooden stool is assembled without a single nail - with dowels and wood glue. Everyone can make such an original piece of furniture for a private house or a summer residence.
The process of making a stool
First of all, it is tedious to prepare six short and two long wooden blocks with dimensions of 30x40 mm. As a material, it is better to choose hardwood.
At the ends of the bars we make markings, and then drill two holes. We connect all the parts with dowels and wood glue.
We tighten the legs of the stool with clamps and give them a little "rest" - until the glue completely dries. Getting to the manufacture of seats. This will require three pieces of board 30 cm long.
Stool assembly steps
We connect the legs with transverse bars (for this we also use dowels and carpentry glue). We tighten the frame with clamps and leave it for a while until the glue dries.
At the next stage of work, we glue the parts of the seat (three boards). In this case, dowels are no longer used. Instead, we make hidden fasteners - using wood screws.
The holes are covered with wooden inserts of dark wood, to get a slight contrast. It looks very original. The protruding parts of the wooden inserts are cut with a hand hacksaw.
We bring "marafet" and you're done!
Then we grind the surface of the stool with sandpaper and saturate it with mineral oil. If desired, it can be coated with colorless varnish.
