If electricity is often cut off in the garage, private workshop or at the cottage (or it is not at all), and a grinding machine is required for work, that is an alternative - you can make a machine on pedals that is driven by feet. Cheap and cheerful, as they say.
Manufacturing process
First you need a chain sprocket from the rear wheel of a sports bike - you need to weld two metal washers of suitable diameter on both sides of it. Then the sprocket must be mounted on a steel pipe (in the center) and seized by welding.
On both sides of the pipe, it is also necessary to fit the bearings at the same distance from the sprocket, and use steel washers to make restrictive stops by welding them to the pipe in the right place. Further, special metal clamps are put on the bearings for mounting on the bed.
At the edges of the pipe you need to wear grinding stones - this is the basis for the future foot machine. To bring everything to mind, it will be necessary to make a supporting part (stand) for the grinding machine from scraps of steel corners, and then connect it to the main part.
The final stage of work
To make the gear, you will need to use two more chain sprockets - large and small. They need to be mounted on the tube and connected to each other by welding. Then this part of the structure must be placed under the bed (in the center), after pulling the chain on the upper and lower sprockets.
The grinder works by analogy with a sewing machine. Its performance is much less compared to an electric machine. But when there is no light in the workshop or at home - a very good option.
