Using a simple home-made fork-shaped holder for fixing vegetables, you can not only speed up the cutting process, but also increase safety when using a knife. In general, this thing is definitely useful in the kitchen.
A homemade fork holder easily pierces both soft (tomato, boiled beets) and hard vegetables (onions, cucumbers, carrots, apples, potatoes). This device is very convenient to use, and most importantly - safe.
To make a kitchen assistant for cutting, we need a stick about 3-4 cm thick, 12-14 cm long, which can be sawed off in the forest (for example, from a fallen tree). Then, using a knife, remove the upper “layer” of wood from both sides to give the stick the shape of a bar. Sand the block on all sides.
The main stages of work
On one side we draw a line with a pencil and put in the center marks of 0.5 cm in the amount of 17 pieces. Then we drill holes on the marks. We make blanks of thin metal rods such as knitting needles. We seal the bar with tape and pierce the holes with a spoke. We mix 2 types of glue, and apply with a knife to the bar so that the glue fills the holes.
Remove the tape and insert the knitting needles into the holes. In appearance, our assistant is very similar to a comb. Then, with a pencil, we outline the shape of our future vegetable holder on the handle, and saw off the excess wood.
Grind with a piece of cloth. Then we glue the needles with adhesive tape along the border with the handle, stick the blank into a small piece of foam of a suitable size and cover with impregnation.
Our kitchen chopping assistant is ready. Now, with its help, you can cut even slices, for example, cucumbers, tomatoes and chop onions. And now ready to prepare the salad. That's how you can make a practical and convenient cutting assistant for the kitchen yourself.
