If it doesn't give you any pleasure to listen to how the water runs through the pipes in the bathroom - from the neighbors above, you just need to make good soundproofing of the sewer riser. And it’s not at all necessary to call plumbing for this - you can cope with this task yourself.

To perform the work, you will need the simplest clerical knife, a flat or Phillips screwdriver (to remove the pipe fasteners), a clean rag and some inexpensive solvent. Also, noise insulation material itself will be required - specifically in this case it is the usual sound insulation for a car body 3 mm thick.

The main stages of work

First of all, with a brush or brush, it is necessary to remove dust from the surface of the pipe. At the next stage, remove the pipe fasteners and degrease the plastic with a solvent. We wet the rags in the solvent, and simply wipe the surface of the pipe.

Next, we carry out a control fitting of the noise-insulating material for a car (vibroplast), after which we proceed to glue it. When the sound insulation was glued to the pipe, slightly heat it with a hairdryer and smooth it with your hands. You need to heat without much fanaticism.

Usually, a plug is provided on the sewer risers - it will also need to be wrapped with soundproofing material. Please note that when using small pieces that are glued to each other, the overlap should be at least 5-10 mm.

In principle, it is not necessary to “wrap” horizontal sewer pipes with a vibroplast, but if there are small pieces of material left, why not? It certainly won’t be worse. For details on how to make good soundproofing of the sewer riser, see the video on the site.
