With this simple home-made tool, you can mark the workpieces to cut the radius steps for stairs, and such a wooden compass is useful for making round inserts and strapping the countertops. The design itself is quite simple, and its manufacture will require accessible materials.
How to make a compass for marking
As the basis of a home-made marking compass, an ordinary board is used, which is suitable in size (and the compass sizes can be different, depending on the dimensions of the product), inside which a wide groove is selected.
The second structural element is a wooden insert, which is installed in the groove in the board and is movable. In this insert, holes for the copy sleeve are drilled. The distance between the holes can also be different - it determines the width of the radius steps or the strapping of the countertop.
Additionally, central axial lines are provided on the movable insert along which marking is performed. There is also one “control” line at the bottom of the template, which is needed in order to compensate for the cutter cut. That is, if you use a cutter with a diameter of 6 mm, then you need to retreat from the extreme bottom center line 6 mm and draw another "control" line.
How to work with such a compass
